there. just like steve's been telling you. >> chilly to cold. there's some 30s showing up here. amy just checked in here, east of tomales, 37 degrees. woodside and sonoma are doing their best at 39 scotts valley, pinole, stanford campus, hollister 40, and socal at 41. there are many that are bumping mendocino county, lake county, middletown, upper lake down to 34, ukiah 3841 rohnert park fairfax 41. take your pick. there are many. i think we've probably bottomed out. i mean, on the lows, but sunny today. nice breezy, but temperatures trying to bump up. but they're hard pressed to do so really. but we'll go for 60s and 70s on the tens pretty close to where they should be this time of year. all right. sal is here. highway four. >> yes a mess. >> let's get to a developing story we've been watching for you in concord. here. fire crews are at the scene of a massive

overnight fire. the fire started around 10:00 last night at a building on sunset and east street. firefighters say they got right to work. when they arrived to leaping flames. took over 2.5 hours to put the fire out, in part because the roof and wall started collapsing. now we're told the building was empty at the time, had been empty for several years. crews are still at the scene this morning looking for hot spots and a cause of the fire. our allie rasmus will have another live report coming up in about half an hour. she's tracking the investigation. >> all right, guys, we're also following developing news from san francisco's bayview district. take a look at what it was like at third street and casada avenue last night, just after 930. a lot of police officers out there, they appear to be investigating some type of violent crime. we're not sure the police placed crime tape outside of several of the buildings there. right now. we're still trying to get more information from san francisco police to bring you the latest information about all of this police activity from last night. >> san francisco's mayor wants

to spend more than $300 million to improve the city. nearly half of the money would go toward medical clinics. ktvu james torres in studio now to explain the bond measure proposed by mayor london breed and w gasia,0 million. mayor breed says the plan tackles four different categories. the city really needs. but 167 million of those dollars is meant to expand and strengthen public health. here's what the mayor hopes to do. that money would renovate and expand the chinatown health clinic. it's an 88 bed hospital which handles more than 10,000 patients a year, 80% of whom speak a language other than english. part of the cash is also being proposed to add 65,000ft!s of seismically safe space at sf general hospital, a medical center well known for its seismic infrastructure. finally, the bond hopes to increase capacity at psychiatric emergency services at laguna honda hospital and also ensure recertification. it was just two years ago when state regulators

stripped the hospital's medicaid certification and threatened its closure. but last year, the state approved laguna honda's recertification and allowed it to stay open. mayor breed, saying in a statement, quote, we are working every day to make san francisco a vibrant and healthy city. this bond will invest in our critical infrastructure and advance projects that create jobs and prioritize important civic needs. the bond measure as a whole also allocates money to improve streets, crosswalks, pavements. it also looks to address homelessness and sponsor public spaces like the harvey milk plaza in the castro. the city's capital planning committee needs to okay the measure before the board of supervisors take it up for a vote. if it passes those two hurdles, then it will go to the november ballot and voters in san francisco will make the final call. garcia, james. >> thank you. walmart walmart has announced it's closing all of its health care clinics nationwide. the company says operations were not profitable amid rising costs and a challenging environment. retailer operated about 50

health centers in five states. walmart is also shutting down its virtual care offering. the company says the closures won't have an effect on any of walmart's pharmacies or vision centers. now to a significant development on the covid vaccine , the pharmaceutical giant astrazeneca said in court that its vaccine could have rare but deadly side effects. the company's been fighting a class action lawsuit alleging its shot has led to several deaths and serious injuries. in a february legal document, the company acknowledged in very rare cases, the shot has given people a condition that leads to blood clots and a low blood platelet count. the company continues to deny claims its vaccine is defective. >> gasia time now 705 new this morning from new york city, a judge just warned donald trump to stop violating a gag order in his criminal trial, or he'll be arrested and put in jail. the judge overseeing trump's so-called hush money trial said the former president violated

that gag order. nine times and ordered trump to pay $1,000 for each violation he says the former president is not allowed to talk about witnesses, about members of the jury or others connected to his trial, that trump continues to say he's only exercising his right to free speech. well a 13 year old boy in england was killed during a sword attack and several other people were hurt. >> police say in london that a man wielding a sword went on a rampage near a train station. a 36 year old man was arrested after police responded to reports of a vehicle being driven into a house. two officers are recovering from stab wounds to other people were also injured. police say the incident is not being treated as a terror or targeted attack. >> our time now 706 around the country demonstrations, protests and encampments on college campuses against the war in gaza keep growing. and that includes

right here in the bay area. at sonoma state university, an encampment was set up on friday, and it grew over the weekend at stanford. a protest also continues to grow, despite the words of school administrators telling students they're violating university policies. and at cal, more people have joined an encampments encampment right outside of sproul hall, and the newest encampment is at san francisco state, a protest that started just yesterday. now, those protesters at san francisco state, like the protesters at other universities, want an end to the violence in gaza. and they also want the university to divest or sell their holdings in companies that do business with israel's military. free. free palestine and palestine. now, just after a rally began yesterday at the university, protesters set up tents as a member of the csu system, we think that it's

important to protest their, their, involvement. and, you know, support of the genocide. >> now, some of the jewish students on the campus say some of the language is being used by the protesters and on their signs makes them very uncomfortable, basically saying, i can't be a part of that conversation whatsoever, because i believe that the state of israel has a right to exist. >> you know, it creates an unwelcoming environment, but more so, it's just it's shutting down even essential conversation. >> now, in a statement responding to the protest, university officials said in part, sf state foundation investment policy reflects its commitment to the values of the university, prioritizing social and racial justice, environmental sustainability and climate action. >> overnight, pro-palestine protesters at columbia university in new york city took over a building on campus. i believe that we will win. >> i believe the protesters broke into an academic building, barricaded the entrances and

hung palestinian flags and banners on the buildings. >> this as the university began to suspend students who refused to take down a tent city demonstration that went up two weeks ago. >> we were engaging in good faith negotiations until the administration cut them off under threat of suspensions, where we ask for amnesty, they gave us more discipline. >> today, education secretary miguel cardona will appear before a house committee as lawmakers want to know what's being done to address anti-semitism reported at many universities across the country. >> time is 709. we have a big problem on highway four eastbound, which is in a not usually affected by slow traffic. at this time, we have it down to maybe 1 or 2 lanes right on the willow pass grade here. just after you get over the hill from concord, over to bay point, where before willow pass road, before the second willow pass road exit. and people are also slowing in the westbound direction to look at what's going on. although the

slowdown seems to be a little less than it was, but i'm not sure why they can't open those lanes. but part of it is an injury crash, part of it was roadwork, so they both combined to cause a huge traffic problem in that area. let's talk about the bay bridge. you can see that's backed up all the way out to the maze, partially due to earlier problems which have been cleared westbound 580 getting into livermore solid because of an overturned pickup truck at the greenville road exit. so if you're coming in from tracy or you know someone who is, they're going to be late this morning, most likely southbound 101 at san antonio, near novato narrows. there, there was a crash. they cleared it, but traffic is still backing up into petaluma. 710 let's go back to the desk. >> okay, sal. well, boeing's credit rating is now near junk status. the continued financial troubles for that troubled plane manufacturer and what that means for the airline industry and this is one of those did they really do that kind of stories? >> someone made off with 10,000 honeybees in the east bay by the

reacting. andre. >> well, dave, the amateur beekeepers name is sue donahue. she's a chef by trade, but got into beekeeping about seven years ago. now on saturday morning, thieves stole a colony of 10,000 honeybees from outside of her home on manila drive in north oakland. they also ran off with a queen bee. donahue says this was a crime she never expected. she immediately rushed outside of her home after she heard someone disrupt her beloved beehives, but she did not respond fast enough. >> i heard somebody say, hey, free bees! and then a moment later, i heard a car door shut. >> well, donahue says she has made bees a major part of her life in recent years. her beehives are well known to her neighbors, who often come to her home to buy honey. and donahue says she loves to teach children about the wonder of bees. however, the focus of her bee lesson well, have they now? they've now changed following this weekend's theft. >> instead of showing them how

bees behave in a hive, we were explaining to them, about theft. >> donahue is quite certain the thieves who targeted her home do not know the first thing about bees, and she is also certain her bees will die very soon if they do not receive proper care. so far, oakland police have no suspects in this case and the motive is unclear. as for why this happened, law enforcement experts point out there really is no black market for bees, so that's really unclear at this point. dave. all right, andre. >> thank you. time now. 715 in benicia. a man was arrested following a shootout with police, and now he's facing a charge of murder. 39 year old david ochoa magana is still in custody at the solano county jail. vallejo police have identified him as a suspect in a homicide, and he's being charged in connection with the death of a man back on march 16th. now, magana was arrested after a

shootout on the interstate 780. benicia police say the city's license plate readers originally identified a car involved in an armed robbery, and they say magana and another person inside started shooting at the police during a chase. both were later arrested when the car crashed and a man was arrested in santa rosa, accused of using a sword to threaten restaurant workers. 29 year old shane hulbert is accused of walking into a restaurant on fourth street sunday afternoon, pulling out that sword and then confronting one of the employees. then police say the suspect grabbed an alcoholic beverage from out of a cooler and ran away, and no one was hurt. hobart is now facing charges of felony robbery. >> california will soon begin selling its own generic version of the opioid overdose reversal drug narcan. the state is teaming up with a major pharmaceutical company to make it available statewide.

california will be able to buy the drug at 40% below the current market rate. that will allow the state to distribute some of the generic version for free. the state's health director says it's proven to save lives. >> incredible impact that this drug can have at saving people's lives. how easy it is to use, how important it is to make it widely available. so we have it as a tool to save lives everywhere in our state. >> the state is now making plans to distribute the drug to county governments, police agencies, local health departments and schools for free. the shipments could begin as early as next month. a family court in downtown san jose is now paying more than $150,000 a day to keep the lights on, following a second power outage at its court building in the past two months. the latest outage began early yesterday morning. the family court centers paying for a generator and fuel to keep the lights on as it waits for a permanent power source to be restored. the court handles a wide variety of cases, mostly involving domestic violence and

restraining orders. >> disruption to the litigants is significant. we the court has, really, i think is quite nimble in addressing these kinds of failures and reestablishing operations as quickly as possible. but it takes some herculean efforts from our court staff as well to make that all happen. >> pg and e has not yet said why it hasn't reconnected power to an equipment failure caused the lights to go out at the same building back in early march. >> all right, our time is 718, right back to south castaneda. we have a big problem on highway four. >> that's right, this injury crash has been there now for almost an hour. not quite, but look what it's done. they've issued a sig alert. i don't know why they can't clear it, but obviously there is some complication. i don't know about eastbound here coming up on the willow pass exit, and traffic is really slow. there was a crash in the westbound direction. it could have been because people were slowing down to take a look. that was a minor incident, but highway four is pretty slow.

bay bridge a big backup with an overturned pickup truck at greenville road, and that has caused a huge backup stretching back to tracy and southbound 101. we had an earlier crash in novato. that's why it's very slow from petaluma heading all the way down to san rafael, south bay commutes. also getting busy. we'll talk about that coming up soon. now at 719. let's talk to steve with today's weather. >> thank you sam, we'll get right to it here. a cold end april. no doubt about it here a lot of 30s. what? yes, many up in mendocino county. lake county a little bit closer to home here. east of tomales in marin county. 37 woodside and sonoma both briefly dipped to 39. scotts valley, pinole, stanford, hollister, 40, and even socal dropped to 41. speaking of cold, look at the san francisco buoy 49 cold degrees that is brutally cold for the end of april on the

water temps. so the not only the inland temps cold this morning, but also the water temps. san francisco 6449 today. what's average 6350. so pretty close again, they've been below 63. the yesterday was 63. but it's been a cool pattern for many here 93 the record high 1996 and 45. the record low way back in 1887. speaking of the city temps, we're going 64 today. 63 6262, 60 the past five days going back to february or february. steve friday, right, low going into the pacific northwest. the highs offshore. so it's really not doing too much for us. still 30s and 40s for many. menlo park 42, woodside, now 40, atherton stanford campus 41, los altos 42, half moon bay one observation over there 42. cold in the mountains. truckee and tahoe 2523 in reno. least our observer, had a briefly drip. dipped 32 degrees this morning. we get a west northwest breeze, so that can't go anywhere. those

mayhem after one of his bodyguards was allegedly attacked as the mayor was doing a television interview. >> i believe having another second set of eyes, second set of hands there maybe they could have done some different tactics. maybe you could have had one officer have the mayor and his staff go into another building locked, secure it before this individual could approach, while the one was dealing with him outside. >> now, the naacp chapter in san jose and silicon valley also has questions for police about the

man at the center of the confrontation. president jethro moore sent a letter to the department asking why the mayor's bodyguard stopped him in the first place. >> i see a black man walking down the street on his cell phone. he said something that the black the brother did not take as coming from somebody of authority or as a police officer. >> unfortunately, reverend moore has he entered into this with a race element and had nothing to do with race. >> the police officers association says the man who was stopped was a fugitive wanted in georgia. when asked about increasing the mayor's security, city leaders said it's a police matter. >> our time now. 725 three teachers in the contra costa unified school district may sue the school district unless it takes action to fill vacant teacher jobs, according to edsource. a lawyer working with the teachers sent a letter to the school board demanding a plan that explains how each teacher vacancy will be filled. the teachers say substitute teachers have been covering some

of the classes since the beginning of the school year, which they say is not giving students an adequate education. even now, the school district says finding and retaining teachers is a challenge all over the state. in a statement, the school district said, quote, the district has provided support and supervision for its students to the best of its ability. >> marine county says public schools have to stop asking parents to buy school supplies. a new report says some schools were being investigated for sending home lists of required materials and equipment. the county civil grand jury said that public schools in the state are required to provide students with supplies at no cost. local school superintendents say they appreciate the findings and will work to address the challenges. >> our time now 726 a pro-palestinian mural in san francisco has been repeatedly vandalized. you tell you how the artist is putting this vandalism in perspective and a bad voyage for hundreds of travelers. >> the virus that broke out on board two

neighborhood. also for law enforcement officers, were killed. four others were wounded in a shootout in north carolina. we'll explain how this deadly battle began in from ktvu. >> fox two news. this is mornings on two. well good morning. >> thank you for joining us. welcome back to mornings on two. >> i'm dave clark i'm gasia mikaelian. it's tuesday april 30th. the kind of weather steve paulson where if you find a patch of sunshine you feel okay but don't go in the shade. >> it's one of those ones where it's cool in the shade, nice in the sun. there's a little bit of a breeze here. it's sunny. that's the good news. but boy was it cold. this morning. a few upper 30s, lots of 40s on the temps. we are starting to bounce off those morning lows, but all 40s here. palo alto made it to 40. woodside made it to 39. sonoma made it to 39 as well. so quite cold for april 30th. looks good today. lots of sunshine but again yeah, in the shade. little chill there. sunny skies. that's the good news. but temperatures is really just where they should

be this time of year. 60s and also 70s. all right he's on the road again. mr. sal castaneda heading to the city. i do believe right i am i'm heading across the bridge and, let's see if i can, hot switch the camera here. >> there you go. we have some slow traffic heading out to the bridge, that i'm in right now at the bay bridge toll plaza. i do want to mention eastbound highway four. they still have that problem where they're trying to clear an injury crash right near willow pass road. you see, it's a mess there. now they're making some progress. highway four westbound has also been affected, so if you drive from antioch to bay point, even though this is not technically in your way, it is in your way in a way, if you know what i mean, because people are slowing down to take a look. hopefully this will be cleared rather soon, so give yourself plenty of time. we have another update coming up in just a few minutes, but now at 731, let's get back to the headlines. >> okay, sal. thank you. well, in downtown concord, expect heavier than usual traffic near the bart station because of a

big fire that happened last night. and firefighters are still there at the scene of this three story building that went up in flames. ktvu. allie. rasmus. germ, you've been out there for several hours. what's the latest on what's happening out there? >> well, dave, we are at the intersection of park and clayton in downtown concord, very close to the concord bart station. and behind us you can see what is left of this three story building that takes up an entire block, this corner lot of the street here in the downtown area, there's a couple of contra costa county fire protection district trucks parked in front of it. one of them with a ladder truck and a hose that is just dousing the top of this building, or what's left of this building with water. firefighters continue to put out any hot spots, and they expect to be out here for much of the morning doing that work. this is after the fire at this building broke out at 1030 last night. luckily, no one was hurt. no one was inside the building. according to contra costa fire

officials, the building was empty and it had been vacant for several years, even before the pandemic. firefighters believe this was some sort of office building at one point, and that the fire may have started somewhere near the top floor of the building. now. video shared with us from viewers who live near the scene last night showed the flames soaring several stories above the ground through the roof of the building. it took firefighters more than 2.5 hours to put out this fire. they talked about some of the challenges involved. >> the roof was collapsing down onto the structure and some of the exterior walls where he collapsing both externally and internally. as soon as you start having that happen, you start making pockets and it's hard to get the water all the way deep down inside there to be able to extinguish that fire at that. >> now, how the fire started is not known. it's something that fire investigators will have to determine in the coming days. but in the meantime, there are several roads around this building that remain closed this morning from concord boulevard and clayton to grant street and clayton. and that's because of all the work involved to shore

up the building, put out the hot spots, keep an eye on things, make sure nothing flares up again, and then, because the roof and some of the stories collapsed in this building, there's a lot of debris kind of spilling out into the street. so expect road closures in this area for much of the day. expect heavy traffic coming through this area. if you're coming to downtown concord or the concord bart station, live in concord, ali rasmus, ktvu, fox two news. >> okay, ali, thank you. time 734 happening today, a virtual town hall meeting hosted by sonoma county supervisor james gore about growing concerns about fire insurance for homeowners. >> we're getting a lot of notes from people who are hearing that their insurance policies are are being pulled or non-renewed. this has been something that's been going on for years, especially since our tubbs fire. this is not really a legislative battle. this is a regulatory work product moving forward right now. >> now, the recent wave of

insurance companies pulling out of california affected tens of thousands of homeowners. gore says he talked with several officials about possible solutions. and during today's panel meeting, we'll hear about the push to keep help insurance companies stay in the area from local and statewide perspectives. >> a memorial is forming in north carolina after four police officers were shot and killed during a standoff. it happened in charlotte, where they were trying to serve a warrant for possession of ay felon. when pe arrived, shots were fired from inside the home. police fired back, killing one person in the front yard. a second person then opened fire, leading to a three hour standoff outside my door. >> police were running by and then ambulance started coming in and they were just going everywhere. >> everywhere. >> we heard about over 100 gunshots. it sounded like world war three. >> three of the four officers killed were from the us marshals service. the other was a local charlotte police officer. four other officers were injured. authorities ultimately sent in a

swat team with an armored car to smash into the home. two people inside were taken into custody as persons of interest. >> get out. time now. 735 the united states increasing pressure on hamas to accept a new proposal for a ceasefire deal in gaza. now, the terms of the agreement haven't been made public. secretary of state antony blinken calls the proposal extraordinarily generous on the part of israel. secretary blinken is due to arrive today in israel to try to move those negotiations forward. negotiators believe progress is being made. >> a pro-palestinian mural in san francisco has been repeatedly vandalized. the artist says he painted the mural on his friend's building in noe valley about five months ago. says the mural is a tribute to the families who've been killed in gaza. surveillance video shows a woman writing bring back our hostages over the mural yesterday. >> yeah. it hurts. like to see it get vandalized, but it's nothing compared to the pain that my people are going through

in gaza. >> the artist says he thinks two different people carried out each act of vandalism. he says he will again paint over it. >> time is 736. construction in vallejo has begun for a new navigation center to help the unhoused. the groundbreaking ceremony was hosted by the city yesterday. what's being built is being built at a former parking lot near highway 37, and after it's completed, the $8 million center will offer 125 shelter beds. >> it's really going to give vallejo, and particularly those who are living on the streets, the opportunity to exit homelessness while they plan their journey for what their next stage of living is going to be. >> now, the latest homeless count show there are about 450 people living on the streets in vallejo. construction on this new navigation center is expected to be completed by december. >> 737 let's get out the door here. i mean, given all things that could be happening weather wise, we here in the bay area

don't have much to complain about. >> it's been really quiet. it was a cool, breezy to windy april and it's ending on a cold note here. we had rain earlier, but now i mean you get 30s this time of year. east of tomales 37, woodside briefly dropped to 39. so did sonoma. 39, scotts valley, pinole, stanford, hollister 40 and even socal made it down to 41. speaking of cold temps, the water temps point arena 51, point reyes 51, monterey bay aquarium 51 and san francisco buoy showing 49 cold degree. i can't remember seeing that in the end of april. i'm sure it's happened, but after researching 6448 for the city to briefly at 643 this morning, the city dropped to 48 normals 50 a record now 45 back in 1887, can breathe a sigh of relief. it's not got challenged a little bit, but it's still safe. 6463 is average. the record 93 in 1996. nothing close to that today. it's been a cool pattern for many, including the city here. 64 is the forecast high today?

63, 62, 62, 60. going back the last four days. lows just keep plowing in front. slows keep plowing in the pacific northwest. the high is way too far to the west. really make it matter. so we're getting that northwest wind that generates the upwelling keeps the breeze going, which is why temps in the morning have been so cool and the water temps are really cold. still some 30s hanging on 30s, 40s to a few 50s, but we've definitely bottomed out. woodside, now 41, atherton stanford, 42, now los altos made it to 42. half moon bay in there a lot of 40s now a couple of 50s. foster city, san mateo and belmont, 20s up in the mountains alturas, truckee, south lake tahoe, reno 39. although briefly our observer there. antonio briefly dropped to 32 this morning. not much in the way of anything going on. the high pressure will try and build in slightly, but it's it just doesn't have a lot to work with. cold morning, sunny, nice. the breeze is still there, slightly warmer. wednesday thursday there could be a few near 80, but i'll tell you it's going to be hard pressed to get there. but some could do that. then the big news

recovering from stab wounds. two other people were also injured. police say the incident is not being treated as a terror or targeted attack. walmart says it's closing all of its health care clinics nationwide. the company says operations were not profitable amid rising costs and a challenging environment. the retailer operated about 50 health centers in five states. it's also shutting down its virtual care offerings. walmart says the closures won't have an effect on walmart pharmacies or vision centers. and now a significant development in the covid vaccine. the pharmaceutical giant astrazeneca said in court that its vaccine could have rare but deadly side effects. the company has been fighting a class action lawsuit alleging its shot has led to several deaths and serious injuries. in a february legal document, the company acknowledged in very rare cases, the shot has given people a condition that leads to blood clots and a low blood platelet count. the company continues to deny claims that its vaccine is defective. >> boeing's credit rating is near junk status. the continued financial troubles facing the plane manufacturer and what it means for the airline airline industry. >> also, this is one of those they really do that kind of

release, spoke with the beekeeper about her concerns that go beyond what she lost. >> and i heard somebody say, hey , free bees! and then a moment later i heard a car door shut. >> beekeeper sue donahue says that's when thieves stole a colony of 10,000 honeybees and a queen bee. she had put in an observation hive like this one outside her north oakland home at about 1030 saturday morning. this after she gave away a couple of other colonies and queen bees disrupting the hives. >> those bees are a little pod. >> this is donahue's apiary in her backyard on manila avenue. she's a chef by trade, but got into beekeeping about seven years ago. once a month, donahue sets up tables for the observation hive, a tasting table and jars of honey to sell to neighbors and to teach kids about bees. >> and instead of showing them how the bees behave in a hive.

mind, and no sting operations in the works in oakland. henry lee ktvu, fox two news. >> 814 now in benicia, a man was arrested following a shootout with police and is also facing a charge of murder. david ochoa mcenany remains in custody at the solano county jail. vallejo police have now identified the 39 year old as a suspect in a homicide. he's being charged in connection with the death of a man back on march 16th. now, mcneil was arrested following a shootout on interstate 780. benicia police say the city's license plate readers originally identified a car involved in an armed robbery and say mcnair and another person inside started shooting at officers during a chase. both were arrested when the car crashed. a man was arrested in santa rosa accused of using a sword to threaten restaurant workers. shane hulbert is accused of walking into a restaurant on fourth street sunday afternoon, pulling out that sword and then confronting an employee. then, police say the 29 year old grabbed an alcoholic beverage out of a cooler and ran away. no one was hurt, and hulbert now

faces charges of felony robbery. >> a 15 california will soon begin selling its own generic version of the opioid overdose reversal drug narcan. states teaming up with a major pharmaceutical company to make naloxone available across the state, california will be able to buy the drug at 40% below current market rate. that means the state can distribute some of the generic version for free. the state's health director says it is proven to save lives in incredible impact that this drug can have at saving people's lives. >> how easy it is to use, how important it is to make it widely available. so we have it as a tool to save lives everywhere in our state. >> the state is now making plans to distribute the drug to county governments, police agencies, local health departments and schools for free. the shipments could begin as early as next month. a family court in downtown san jose says it is now paying more than $150,000 a day to keep the lights on, following a second power outage at its court building in the past two

crews are still at the scene of a three story building that went up in flames. our allie rasmus live now to tell us which roads are closed and how long we should expect delays in the area. >> well, we're at the intersection of clayton and park in downtown concord, and you can see a lot of traffic having to get around this road closure here. you see all the fire trucks and behind them are what is left of what was a three story building that went up in flames. now, since 10:00 last night, contra costa firefighters have been putting out hot spots. you can still smell the smoke and the burnt building in the air out here. this was an empty three story building that caught fire 1030 last night. luckily no one was hurt. the building had been empty for several years, according to firefighters and video shared with us from viewers who live near the scene. last night showed the flames soaring several stories above the ground through the roof of the building. the roof burnt up, it collapsed. a couple of floors collapsed in this building as well. it is expected to take days for firefighters to determine exactly what sparked

the fire, but initial reports are that it started somewhere near the roof of this building, according to the initial reports, is that they had heavy smoke and flames coming from the top of the structure, not from the parking garage area. >> we won't know for probably quite a while the true cause of the fire here today. >> now, in the meantime, there are several roads around this building that remain closed this morning from concord boulevard and clayton to grant street and clayton, this building takes up an entire corner of one of those blocks. so everything around it, including some of the pedestrian walkways. let's take you back out here, live. and you can see that not just the roads around this building, but also the sidewalks have been cordoned off by police behind this yellow tape here. so firefighters expect the road closures to be in place for much of the day. it's not safe really, for people to walk or drive in this area because of this fire. there's a lot of debris that fell into the roadway. so that's why they

officers were shot and killed during a standoff. it happened in charlotte, where they were trying to serve a warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. when officers arrived, shots were fired from inside the house. police fired back, killing one person in the front yard. a second person then opened fire, leading to a three hour standoff outside my door. >> police were running by and then ambulance started coming in and they were just going everywhere. >> everywhere. >> we heard about over 100 gunshots. it sounded like world war three. >> three of the four officers killed were from the us marshals service. the other was a local charlotte police officer. four other officers were injured. authorities ultimately sent in a swat team with an armored car to smash into the home to. people inside were taken into custody as persons of interest. >> the us is increasing pressure on hamas to accept a new proposal for a ceasefire deal in gaza, although the terms of the agreement have not been made public. secretary of state antony blinken is calling the proposal extraordinarily generous. that's a quote on israel's part. secretary blinken is due to arrive in israel today to advance the truce talks.

in damages. sharon stone has not yet publicly responded to this lawsuit. >> the cdc is investigating a norovirus outbreak on multiple cruise ships this month. nearly 200 passengers got sick while sailing. dozens reported feeling ill on a royal caribbean cruise ship that sailed from tampa to los angeles. another outbreak was reported on a cruise ship currently sailing from la through hawaii into the south pacific. more than 100 passengers were treated for virus symptoms at that ship's medical center. at least three rite aid locations in the bay area will close in the next two months. the san jose location, near story on white road will close, as will the rite aid in union city and the union square marketplace and the rite aid at the novato fair mall. the stores pharmacies are closing even sooner. pharmacy at the san jose location is already closed. the union city pharmacy closes today. rite aid says it's closing underperforming stores as it works to boost its finances and exit. chapter 11 bankruptcy. >> 845 is your time. the kentucky derby is known for its fancy hats and this year panera is making one. and yes, it has

to do with its popular bread. >> pam cook has more on that and some important earnings report this morning in dollars and cents. >> good morning mcdonald's and coca-cola released quarterly earnings numbers this morning. mcdonald's report is mixed. as analysts say higher menu prices helped increase margins but driven away some of their customers. coca cola beat analyst estimates with strong sales. and it's not just about coke. also, its fairlife ultra filtered milk and protein shakes doing very well. shares in eli lilly shot up 7% as that opening bell rang this morning. that's after reporting strong sales for its drugs to fight diabetes and obesity. and by the way, ringing that bell this morning was als ride for life. the organization raises money for research to find a cure for als, also known as lou gehrig's disease, taking you live to the new york stock exchange. the numbers have dropped quite a bit in the last hour, with the dow jones now down more than 300 points. some other disappointing earnings weighing heavily on the market, consumer confidence coming in for march. that was disappointing. as well as consumers worry about employment

and inflation. the s&p 500 also down three quarters of a percent, and the nasdaq down about the same to 15,841. the country's largest wireless carriers have been fined nearly $200 million for sharing users location data. the fcc claims the carriers illegally sold real time location information to data collectors. the agency says that allowed highly sensitive information to get into the hands of bail bond companies, bounty hunters and people the agency described as shady actors. t-mobile has been ordered to pay $80 million. at&t was fined $57 million verizon faces a $47 million fine, but the companies say they will challenge those fines in court. boeing has tried to recover from difficult times by raising $10 billion in bond sales. the new financing eases some of boeing's economic struggles as it deals with safety concerns involving its 737 max nine jets. the company lost more than $300
