that's why when we talk about accepting, mike johnson today, thank you, mike johnson, for standing right. i'm not going to sit here and go, yeah, but you did this, this, this, this, this. that time will come if it needs to come. right now, we found an issue that we can agree on, so we lift that person up. we look for opportunities to come together. like you said, we form a coalition of the decent, of people who want this democracy to thrive, people who, once again, want leaders that are respectful of each other, that can talk to each other, that can get things done, because at the bottom of it all, they are in a coalition of the decent. >> that's absolutely right, joe. there's this wonderful line that i got out of james baldwin's work as i was studying with him. you know, he's talking about, you know, how hatred gums us up. how we retreat into our silos. he says, you know, salvation is not found in that tricky magic, where you need the quote, unquote, illegal human being. who is illegal? or if you need the n-words or f-words, or to put women back in their place, as it were, quote, unquot

mike johnson did do the right thing on this. i'm waiting to see if this is just a moment or if this is true movement. he did go down to mar-a-lago not a week and a half ago and stood with donald trump who is an unelected individual. a former president to literally seems to be holding the house republican caucus by the arm and multi- indicted individual. >> exactly. and wondering if this is just a moment or if this is true movement from my johnson revolution. and i also think it's a trial for the american people but shows the depth of the president. president biden and democratic leadership in the house. they have outmaneuvered consistently mike johnson and republicans every time in this congress, i think. >> i think it is a moment. i'm not going to get so excited. the democrats would have said what they would do with that kind of stuff, we follow our leadership. they might have said they would vote for him. when i say i'm not voting for him, i stand by that. i only vote for leader jeffries if we have to go through this again. he

david: kudos to speaker johnson. to his credit, he has hung in ere and he has bobbed and weaved to keep his job but in the end i think he did the right thing for the country and the world. and it was a test. it is important to respect democracy. when you have a broad majority of people, not only in the house but also in the country, including 69% of republicans that think vladimir putin should not be allowed to take more land in ukraine, and this broad majority, democracy should prevail. the problem in our country is that over the last few years, angry minorities have ruled. william: on this issue of this angry minority, that has always been the talk about speaker johnson. he is beholden to them and cannot cross them. and yet, today he did. it sounds like governing. do you think this development today reduces the sword of damocles over his head otherwise known as marjorie taylor greene? jonathan: three weeks ago we talked about marjorie taylor greene submitting a motion to vacate. this week, tom massey says i have a
