tradition of how americans respond to consequential issues. but but neither are we a lawless country. whereas civil society and order must prevail, president biden underscored the importance of the first amendment while condemning violence on campus. >> good evening everyone. >> i'm mike mibach and i'm claudine wong, police have detained more than 2000 demonstrators from across the country in recent weeks, including about 200 today at ucla. let's show you some video from the campus of ucla. this was taken just a few hours ago. and that's the facilities team right there, breaking down structures and other items from that cleared out protest encampment. police went in at dawn, broke up the encampment. ucla gave a number of reasons for that decision, and that includes violence between demonstrators and counter-demonstrators and demonstrators blocking students from going to classrooms, the school says. before it sent in

police, it gave people who were camping and opportunity to leave on their own 300 left voluntarily. the remaining protesters were arrested, and today the new york city police department released body cam video from the protest at columbia university. >> earlier in the week. flash-bang over. let's deploy a flashback. officers cleared the entrance of hamilton hall tuesday night. protesters had broken into the building just after midnight and barricaded the entrance and other parts of the building using chairs and desks, chains and locks. officers cleared the barricade, entered the hall and then removed the protesters. police also cleared encampments from the school's main lawn and arrested dozens of students. a group of republican lawmakers in sacramento is now condemning some of the protests on college campuses here in california. the leaders of the republican caucus

want to withhold money from the state universities where protests are taking place. the lawmakers say they want to hold school administrations accountable for, quote, doing nothing to protect student safety and ensure lawful conduct. >> one aspect of addressing this issue is a budget solution that we can propose through this building, to make sure that these administrators know that this legislature is serious when it comes to keeping students safe on these public campuses, and we have a responsibility to make sure that happens. and if the administrators won't take it serious, we will. >> and tonight, no word yet from college and university administrators about the proposal to withhold state funding. >> student protesters at uc berkeley say they have had talks with uc staff about the call for divestment. >> ktvu jana katsuyama joins us live tonight from the cal campus with more on these discussions. jana claudine and mike, we haven't seen any of the violent clashes here today that you were talking about at some of the

other campuses here you can see a purple tent, and in front of that they have been having daily programing where some of the protesters have been talking about their personal stories as palestinian americans, and also about the reasons why they are here with these tents, staging this protest. >> the student protesters say they have a divestment committee that includes faculty members, and one spokesperson says this is an academic setting. and so they have done research which they are presenting to uc officials. he says he's encouraged by the progress student protesters say they've had meetings with uc officials calling on the university to review its investments and cut ties with any weapons manufacturer and related military supply industries involved with israeli attacks on gaza. >> we've met with all all sorts of people. chancellor christ, the staff. i'm not sure about the positions of each of these people, but like it's in progress. >> on thursday, they said a small victory. >> it was a near unanimous vote in favor of the bill. >> protesters say the undergraduate student body voted

for a bill to block expenditures of student funds on companies linked with military industry. they hope the university will do the same. >> all these companies that are profiting off the war. so the primary aspect is complete divestment from blackrock just to take our money, our tuition, our taxes away from these companies that are making money off the blood of the people of gaza. >> what students are, by and large, calling for is divestment from weapons manufacturers, divestment from israeli businesses, and divestment from institutions, institutions or companies that do business with israeli businesses. >> professor christopher marsicano, who studies higher education finance at davidson college, says this is not the first time student activists have called for divestment. in the 1980s, there was a similar focus on south africa, but university funding has changed over the decades, making divestment more complicated. >> but effectively, endowment managers have to do is figure out what of the various different pieces of their very complicated endowment meet those criteria for the list is broader

than that. >> there are other companies in the supply chains of these firms that are dedicated to the manufacturing, to the to the arms industry, that the administration is being shown in these negotiations. >> the protesters here said that they plan to attend a meeting scheduled for 530 with a graduate student body and ask them to pass a similar divestment bill that would restrict graduate student funds. >> and, jana, what about the response tonight from uc officials about all this? >> you know, they have been very quiet about this. i did speak with a uc spokesperson today who would not give any confirmation about whether there have been these meetings, and also said that they had no comment on the issue of the divestment. >> and do we have any idea on timeline, even for the protesters or from the uc in response? i know commencement ceremonies are going to be in a little over a week, and so certainly that will be a time when a lot of people will be

crowded on the campus of uc berkeley. any talk about timelines? >> they haven't said anything about timeline in terms of their discussions with the university over terms of them being here. although one of the speakers who just got up in the past hour said that they want to be here as long as it takes in order to get their message across to the university officials. >> all right. jana katsuyama, live tonight on the cal campus. jana, thank you for that. >> and we will continue our coverage on what is happening at cal and what is happening at universities across the country on our website you can go to ktvu.com. >> today's shots were fired right down the street from oakland's bishop o'dowd high school. witnesses say four vehicles were driving erratically just prior to the gunfire. ktvu henry lee live tonight in the newsroom with more on the story. henry. >> yeah, mike. picture this. you're trying to get your kid to school, and all of a sudden the car going the wrong way slams into you. bullets are flying. that's exactly what happened to this mother and daughter. it was

supposed to be a routine drop off at school, but for a mother and her 13 year old daughter, it was anything but. after they got caught up in a rolling gun battle and were rammed by a chevy camaro, she just turned the corner and the car was pretty much on top of her. >> hit their car high speed and, they were shooting billy dupree's daughter and granddaughter were headed to francophone charter school when their ford explorer was hit by a camaro. >> going the wrong way at about 745 thursday morning. neighbors tell me the camaro was one of four cars involved in a couple of rolling gun battles that ended with the crash, but the gunfire didn't stop there. >> after the accident, they were still shooting. >> the airbags are deployed. she just hears gunshots. >> the mother and daughter were not hit by gunfire. they managed to climb out of the roof of their suv and walk away. >> i feel blessed that nothing wrong with them. you know, with my daughter or my granddaughter, that's that's the main thing. >> the father of the 13 year old agrees. >> it's a miracle, actually. i mean, it could have been a lot

worse. it could have been a lot worse. the violence erupted not far from bishop o'dowd high school, a woman who didn't want to go on camera tells me she heard the gunfire through her earplugs. >> i heard a series of shooting so as if two people were shooting back and forth. given that there are three schools in the neighborhood, i think enhanced police attendance would be really necessary to keep track of what's going on in here. >> another neighbor tells me he saw everything unfold from his front porch. >> i hear shooting coming up the street, then two cars fly down the street and everything. and, i mean, i'm used to this stuff, so i wasn't tripping. then i seen a second set of cars, so then i heard the boom. i heard the crash. >> oakland police recovered shell casings along cherokee avenue. the camaro was towed as evidence. now, police will be going through that camaro and analyzing those bullet casings in hopes of identifying everyone involved in this gun battle. >> mike henry lee live tonight in the newsroom. henry. thank

you. >> well, livermore police are asking for the public's help as they search for a man suspected of killing two people over the weekend. police shared these photos of 30 year-old tungsten vasquez. authorities believe the oakland resident shot and killed a 26 year old woman and a 21 year old man. both were shot and killed on april 27th, just before 7 a.m. at the la quinta on south front road. police believe vasquez knew the victims . he does remain at large and police say he should be considered armed and dangerous. the deaths were livermore's first and second homicides of the year. >> the owner of a concord hair salon is now in custody for multiple counts of sexual assault. police say they arrested 41 year old chinuk vu on monday. he is the owner of chai hair salon on clayton road. police say this is where the assaults happened. the district attorney's office has filed several charges, including assault of a minor under the age of 16. vu remains in. custody on $275,000 bail, and police say they believe there may be other

victims. tesla's been accused of air quality violations at its facility in fremont in the bay area air quality management district says tesla's paint shop has released harmful emissions into the air without proper abatement since 2019, air quality officials say tesla has been served with 112 notices of violations. >> now, the agency is seeking an abatement order to force tesla to correct the issue. we have reached out to tesla for comment but have not heard back. >> the city of san francisco is accused of illegally dumping wastewater into san francisco bay and the ocean. the us environmental protection agency, along with the california regional water quality board, are suing san francisco for the violations. the lawsuit accuses the city of discharging nearly 2 billion gallons of sewage every year since 2016, saying it increased a 4 billion gallons during a six month stretch between 2022 and last year. the epa is demanding san francisco stop the dumping and pay hundreds of thousand dollars in fines, the city says. unlike other cities, it does remove pollutants from wastewater before releasing it to the bay

be front and center this weekend at one of two cinco de mayo parades, very excited and a little nervous. >> it's just because, you know you want everything to, to go well after all your planning, polanco, president of the lowriders council of san jose, says planning for this year started days after last year's event. >> the result will see a parade on the east side along the king road corridor and one through downtown san jose on santa clara street. >> we're encouraging the public to come down, celebrate responsibly and to be able to celebrate with us, sergeant jorge garibay says. >> several street closures will be in effect saturday from multiple events and sunday. two lowrider parades, both starting at 10:00 in the morning. councilman omar torres is spearheading efforts downtown. >> we know that when we collaborate with our san jose police department, right, it's going to be a little bit more organized. and, and, folks feel safer coming down to celebrate cinco de mayo, the 680 freeway off ramp to story road will be

closed. >> and there is a potential for road diversions based on traffic congestion. this year, the department is doing more than collaborating. officials say officers will ride in the lowrider parades in this 1964 plymouth. >> i think we're fortunate the community is willing to collaborate with us and that we're have the opportunity to be involved in these parades. just because we remove a band, that doesn't mean that the community wants to be part of the parade, polanco says. >> cementing a better relationship with the sapd was always a goal from the old days to the ugly days to the current day of two parades, when we kind of sat down, you know, and talked about things and, and since then the relationship has grown. >> we have a line of communication so that we could further grow that. and, you know, hopefully, like within five years, it's even better. >> police say they expect hundreds of thousands of people to come to san jose for the two days. >> and all the events will put a complete list on our website

ktvu.com. if you plan on coming. officials stress you should probably take either mass transit or rideshare vta always a great alternate live. we're live in downtown san jose. jesse gary, ktvu, fox two news. claudine, back up to you. yes, it is a popular event. >> thanks so much, jesse. >> volunteers from some of san francisco's most recognized companies took to the streets today, helping to clean the downtown area. ktvu is christian captain has the story from the embarcadero. >> everyone should have a number associated with their name tag, right? >> volunteers from the gap jp morgan chase, levi strauss, visa and wells fargo all stepped outside their office buildings and into the streets and parks of san francisco, ready to clean up. i guess that there's buckets over there together, the companies announced the creation of the downtown volunteer coalition, each company bringing 50 volunteers to clean and beautify the city of san francisco. anna walker from levi strauss, says the aim is to leverage their employees and make a difference in the city, where they live or work.

>> what we're really excited about is that it's volunteering, but it's getting it's being part of the community. it's engaging with the local businesses, the local nonprofits, learning more about the city and giving back. >> volunteers from those companies helped to clean and beautify parks and public spaces, collecting any trash they saw, clearing pathways and even weeding. katie fitzsimmons from wells fargo says she hopes these first companies start off the project and attract others to follow in their footsteps. >> that's exactly the hope. we have the first five companies, but we want this to grow. we want there to be tech companies, biotech, other financial institutions, other companies that call san francisco home. we want them to join in. we love this city and we want to show that love. >> vincent yuen, heads up. refuse, refuse, a grassroots organization helping to clean up san francisco one piece of litter at a time. he says his organization is benefiting from all these volunteers, in addition to all the volunteers that they're able to do to bring out. >> just having them there to show, you know, be public facing

and showing other companies that, you know, you can be involved and make a difference in your community. leading by example, park visitors say clean up and corporate partnership is a great idea. >> it is. and for a companies to come in and help with the community, it's only going to make things better for the people who live here and for the tourism that comes to san francisco today. >> those companies are also kicking off first thursday. it's a project to activate the area today. they are welcoming people to the east cut neighborhood trying to activate that area in san francisco, christien kafton, ktvu, fox two news. >> well, now is a good time to see those sea lions at san francisco's pier 39. check this video out. sky fox flying over earlier today. and according to officials, the sea lion count is the highest it's been in 15 years, with more than 900 sea lions spread out on those docks. officials say that is due to an abundance supply of anchovy in the bay, and because of that

steady food supply, the sea lions are extra active and playful right now. >> they're enjoying the nice weather as well. and we all are right. lots of sunshine, temperatures in the 60s 70s, even a few neighborhoods right around 80 degrees. another nice forecast for tomorrow and then get ready for these big time changes as we head toward the weekend. take a look at some of the highs from today. some of the preliminary numbers. lots of 70s to report. gilroy showing 80 degrees this afternoon. so it has been a nice warm stretch for today. still fairly warm for your friday. and then a big change as we roll into saturday with that cool system moving in and temperatures mainly in the upper 50s to the 60s. so we're checking out the rainfall projections here in the bay area. we could be between about a half an inch to possibly an inch with this saturday system and measurable snowfall in the sierra. and they actually have a winter weather advisory that goes into effect saturday morning. here's the satellite today, though, and the key change. you can see it happening over the past few frames. and

that is a return of some fog near portions of the coastline, especially closer to half moon bay this afternoon. i'm expecting some more cloud cover out there first thing tomorrow morning near the coast and right around the bay, but then clearing skies into the afternoon hours. current numbers out there for the 5:00 hour. we have some 70s in santa rosa. livermore 74, oakland 68. in san francisco, checking in 63 degrees. we're showing you some wind to reports right now. the afternoon breeze has been pretty persistent over the past few days. and concord right now, westerly wind gusting to 24 miles an hour. look at sfo. that number has jumped up a bit upwards of 45 miles an hour. so still some gusty winds in the short term. here is our live camera looking out toward the golden gate bridge. still lots of sunshine to show you in this camera first thing tomorrow morning though. the fog making a comeback near the coast and right around portions of the bay. temperatures will be in the low to mid 50s. and that's what this forecast model is showing tomorrow morning, 7 a.m. and then into the afternoon hours. we should have partly to mostly sunny skies, still fairly warm,

charges in a new sit down interview. the 33 year old reveals that she considered killing herself in the weeks after her arrest. >> elevator dropped from underneath my feet and i'm just like, man, my life is over right here. >> griner was sentenced to nine years in a labor camp, but was freed in december of 2022, in exchange for a convicted arms dealer. though some, including griner, thought that former marine paul whelan would be included in the deal if it was left up to me in that trade, i would have went and got paul and brought him home. >> but any time that we can bring home an american, that is a win for americans. >> since then, tensions continue to build between the us and russia. on wednesday, the biden administration announced sanctions against hundreds of companies and individuals tied to russia's weapons development, as well as chinese targets accused of supporting moscow. officials say the actions will disrupt russias war on ukraine. >> we'll do everything we can to

make it easier for them to not only, defend against these russian offensive moves, but to push back and to reclaim, but ahead of a russian offensive. >> this spring, nato's chief warned that slow weapons deliveries could impact ukrainian troops on the battlefield. >> timely and sufficient decisions on air defense for ukraine are what we need right now to protect lives, despite its economic ties with russia, beijing claims it is not supplying moscow with weapons in london. >> alex hogan, fox news the country's top intelligence chiefs, gathered for a hearing on capitol hill, answering questions from lawmakers about the annual threat assessment report. >> the hearing was held by the senate armed services committee. the findings from the two month old report reveal the us is facing three distinct challenges. the director of national intelligence, avril haines, said the us is threatened by accelerated competition with major authoritarian powers as well as unpredictable issues including climate change and narcotics trafficking.

modern day test pilot anchored to the road. >> it's very easy to get on the freeway, very easy to maneuver. everything's very smooth. >> the veteran diesel trucker is one of a very few chosen to prove that hydrogen powered trucks can haul the freight emissions free. i love it, i really love it, i enjoy it, it's lovely. >> it's very quiet. >> on thursday, a huge public private mega-project norcal zero became fully online at the port of oakland, the only heavy commercial hydrogen truck stop on earth, and can fuel 200 trucks a day and we can fuel trucks back to back ten minute fills. >> that's very comparable. what you would get with a diesel conventional fuel 30 hyundai axion fuel cell. >> big rigs are the nation's largest fleet, with more than 400 miles of driving range. >> powerful acceleration, payload capacity and importantly, short refueling time. >> this is a real truck from a real production line that was delivered here to the largest

fleet. now operating in north america. that is a very big deal. >> and now we have line of sight to zero emission. and i point to things like this, to projects like this and say it is possible . >> yet there are detractors, much like modern electric vehicles had at the start, about price and range. >> those arguments have zero legitimacy. if we work together and we all have the will to make the change happen, the stone age did not end because they ran out of stones. >> they created something better. >> asthma and cancer ridden west oakland will have better health for sure. >> the only safe emission is no emission. that's what we found out. >> the port already uses electric cranes, vehicles and shore power to ships to stop running, idling, pollution. >> when we look forward to using the station not only for trucks, but for equipment and eventually boats and ships, is going to be using hydrogen as a source of the energy.

>> and so with the norcal zero project, it's really fair to say that the port of oakland is currently leading the way for the entire world in cleaning up ports, and that's a big, big contributor to pollution reporting live. tom baker, ktvu, fox two news. >> so tom, they're the first. and we've seen this with electric vehicles. it takes a while for that to kind of spread to other places. even if people find it to be successful. what is the timeline, do they think for other ports, other industries to say, yes, we can see this works. maybe we'll try it too. >> generally speaking, that's going to be a project of years. currently, one of those trucks costs about $500,000. when you build them at scale, when you put them in a factory and build them, you know, hundreds and thousands at a time, then the price goes way, way down. the other thing that has to happen is there has to be both state, local and especially federal government incentives to do this , because the quicker you get those on the road, the more there will be, the less

expensive they will become and the better the environment will get. because again, trucks are major polluters. >> planning for other ports. but we've got it right here in the bay area. the first. all right. tom vacar live tonight in oakland, tom. thank you. >> well, former president donald trump is back in a new york courtroom in the third week of his criminal trial on the stand, an attorney who represented stormy daniels in a now infamous $130,000 payment. fox's connor hansen has more from new york. i'm not allowed to testify because of an unconstitu national gag order. >> we're appealing the gag order and let's see what happens. >> former president donald trump in court, facing more arguments over whether he violated his gag order. prosecutors say he should be fined again for making comments about michael cohen and others. trump's lawyers say he needs to defend himself. judge juan merchan didn't rule but already agreed to fine trump $9,000 for past social media comments. if i were trump, i'd

be tempted to just give judge merchan a check for about $10,000 every monday and say, this is for this week's violations. >> attorney keith davidson was back on the stand. >> he represented both stormy daniels and karen mcdougal. prosecutors zeroed in on a deal he worked on with trump's ex attorney, michael cohen. a payment of $130,000 for daniels not to speak about an alleged affair with trump. they also went through texts and emails showing cohen's anger over news articles surfacing about the arrangement. in a tv appearance daniels made when trump's lawyers cross-examined davidson, they portrayed him as a shakedown artist who tried to manipulate celebrities. >> a threshold issue in this case is whether donald trump lied when his bookkeeper classified the payments to michael cohen to stormy daniels as a, quote, legal expense. >> lawyer keith davidson testified that he never dealt directly with trump, only with

michael cohen. cohen is expected to take the stand later in the trial in new york. connor hansen, fox news. >> two us senators introduced bipartisan legislation today that would honor the first black woman elected to congress. california's laphonza butler and georgia's reverend raphael warnock each introduced legislation to posthumously recognize congresswoman shirley chisholm. she was elected in 1968 and represented new york for seven terms. now, during her time in congress, she focused on issues of gender and racial equality. she died in 2005. senator butler's legislation would endow chisholm with congress's highest award for her activism and legacy. warnock's act would commission and place a permanent statue of her at a public place in the u.s. capitol. still to come, interest rates higher for longer as inflation continues to tick up instead of ticking down, and should people buy or rent in the bay area?

down to the fed's 2% target rate at its latest meeting this week, the fed chose to keep interest rates unchanged as they remain at a 20 year high of roughly 5.25, and many investors predict rates will remain higher for longer. this week, the fed hinted it does not plan to cut rates until it has greater confidence. inflation is slowing substantially. earlier today on the floor, we did speak with certified financial planner james mcbride from the mcbride group, and he says the economy is still in good shape since unemployment remains low. >> if you do have a lot of people working, people are making money, hey, they're going to spend that money. and two thirds of our gdp is consumer spending. so it's there's a lot of good news in that inflation has cooled from its peak of 9.1% two years ago. >> and many investors say they only expect one rate cut later this year, not 2 or 3, as they had expected earlier in the year. >> well, there's been little change in the number of people filing for unemployment benefits for the first time last week,

new claims for benefits came in at 208,000. jobless claims have remained in a range of 194,000 to 225,000 this year, continuing claims for those who are continuing to get benefits came in at 1.7 million. >> gen z is now choosing more trade schools over traditional four year colleges. >> the trend comes as the cost of higher education continues to rise out of the price range of many prospective students, fox's lauren simonetti reports from a lincoln tech school, with more on what's driving the choice. >> trade jobs are in demand. this is auto technician training that's happening at lincoln tech , a trade school in new york. they're pushing out graduates to an industry that is 37,000 positions short per year. that's attractive to young people that want to streamline their ticket to the middle class without taking on large debt. and some want to create generations of wealth. >> being an automotive tech, i can have my own shop work at different dealerships from honda, allstate, mercedes-benz

acclaimed vietnamese restaurant first closed temporarily in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, and then remain closed as the owner planned to renovate. but after years of closure, the owner says the construction cost to remodel and reopen right there at the ferry building are just too high. there is a new slanted door restaurant now open in napa, as well as another sister location in san ramon. and the chef also has a very popular sandwich shop in the mission district called chuck's takeaway. >> the hyatt regency in san francisco officially announced today that it will be restoring that historic rotating restaurant to celebrate the hotel's 51st anniversary. now, it offers 360 degree panoramic views of the city and the bay. the restaurant was once called the equinox, and from 1973 to 2007, drew visitors from all over the world. the hyatt regency says that revolving restaurant will spin for six hours a day, with each rotation taking 56 minutes. the space will eventually be available to special tier hotel guests or through an exclusive regency club package.

>> the metropolitan transportation commission is considering a proposal which would prevent anyone not in a motor vehicle from crossing the richmond-san rafael bridge during the workweek. an mtc board today heard testimony on a plan to close the lane to bikes and pedestrians monday through thursday, and use it for a car breakdown lane to help prevent severe traffic backups. now, people walking and biking would be allowed to use the lane on fridays through sunday. the plan is opposed by the marin county bicycle coalition. it says adding more car capacity to the bridge will not reduce traffic congestion. >> the popular bay bridge lights will be returning early next year. the organization behind that art installation said today. it has secured the funding to turn that light display back on. those lights went dark more than a year ago because of maintenance issues, and since then, more than $10 million has been raised to revive the installation. earlier on the four, we spoke with ben davis, the founder of illuminate, the nonprofit behind the bay bridge lights. >> it won't look substantially

different, but it may look a little bit more mature and beautiful. but what's really exciting is we're we're doubling the number of leds. we're actually going to still be on the western span, on the northern edge of the bay bridge, but we're going to wrap around the cables with a light node on each side. so you'll still have the same view into san francisco and the north bay. but the idea here is, as a matter of esthetic equity, we invite all the other communities around the bay area to join in. >> the money raised for the project was all donated. the lights are set to be installed and turned back on next march. all right, we have some updates on the highway 37 weekend closure that was scheduled to resume friday. >> the agency says the eastbound closure is canceled due to the rain in the forecast, and this will likely be moved to friday, may 10th. this was going to be the third weekend closure part of caltrans ongoing repaving project. there is still a scheduled closure, though. westbound that is starting at 9:00 tonight, and we do have high confidence that we will be bringing in some rain in the saturday forecast. >> first thing saturday morning up in the north bay and then

spreading to the south throughout the morning hours. today though, a beautiful day 6070. the warmest locations in the lower 80s out towards santa rosa and fairfield. still a warm forecast for tomorrow, but tomorrow will be kind of the last day in this warm weather stretch. you can see the overall temperature profile over the past few days, and there's that sharp drop off. and those numbers on saturday as a cold front moves into the bay area. so rainfall expectations. we're not just talking about a point or two or a few sprinkles. we could be between about a half an inch to possibly upwards of an inch. winds around 25 to 35 miles an hour, and the sierra, it's amazing. they're going to pick up some more snowfall now. it's not a completely unusual to pick up some snow in the month of may here, but still, this was the scene today from tahoe's west shore. the snowfall trying to melt away right around the ski lift. but we're going to add some more snow to the slopes as we head into the weekend. a winter weather advisory begins at 11 a.m. saturday until 8 a.m. sunday, and snowfall projections around six to 8 to 10. maybe the highest peaks of the sierra could be around a foot of some new snowfall. that will be for

saturday and into sunday. for today, though, you can see some cloud cover up along the north coast right around eureka, right around cape mendocino. key change for us has been some fog redeveloping near portions of the coastline, and this will expand in coverage tonight into tomorrow morning. so we will have some gray first thing tomorrow morning. current numbers out there. santa rosa 75, oakland 68 and san jose reporting 72 degrees. we still have some windy conditions in a few spots right now. concord gusting to over 20 miles an hour. sfo gusting to 45 miles an hour and half moon bay. you can see winds up above 20 miles an hour. here is our live camera looking above san francisco. and we still have lots of clear skies and we'll probably see that fog kind of work its way back into the bay later on this evening into early tomorrow morning, so temperatures tomorrow morning will be in the low to low to mid 50s. partly cloudy skies and some areas of fog. this area of high pressure still keeps us on the warm side for tomorrow for your friday. but then we'll see that big change as we start off the

finding out what is driving those numbers down, crystal. >> well, claudine, this all comes after a shooting near bishop o'dowd high school earlier today. but city officials say crime is down because of their ceasefire program. and while some say that perception is reality, some of the folks i talked to do not feel that much safer. numbers don't lie in the numbers. say crime in oakland is down 33. violent crimes like homicides, assault, rape and burglaries are all coming down over last year, with robberies up by 11. but the city says that number is also decreasing compared to the last few months. city leadership is crediting their ceasefire program, originally implemented in 2012 and revived earlier this year. >> what ceasefire does is it uses police intelligence and community information to identify those at the center of violence who are most at risk of picking up a gun and committing
