breaking news this hour. glides renowned co-founder and minister reverend cecil williams has died. he was 94 years-old. cecil led the church for 6 decades just recently passing the torch. >> to doctor gina from are blind, releasing a statement saying he passed away in his home in san francisco, surrounded by his friends and family. we're going to have much more on his life and legacy. coming up on kron, 4 news at 6. >> a street takeover of dirt bikes yesterday in oakland ended with one person having to go to the hospital. oakland police say about 50 bikers drove through several areas of the city causing safety

hazards as they went. trump for us. rob nesbitt joins us now in studio with details. >> you'll often hear them before you see them. the cell phone video shows dirt bikes and atv's taking over parts of bellevue and grand avenues in oakland sunday popping wheelies and weaving through traffic just after 01:00pm around 50 dirt bikes were seen circling lake merritt, some riding on the sidewalk, driving in the opposite direction of traffic. and even turning public parks into their own personal playground. oakland police say several of the bikers cause a safety hazard to those around them and the illegal sideshow activity ended in one injury. this was the scene at grand avenue in park and street just after 06:00pm sunday when police say a vehicle collided with the motorcycle and the driver of the motorcycle had to be taken to the hospital. they were last listed in stable condition. i asked the oakland police department what the protocol is for sideshows involving dirt bikes and atv's. their statement saying in part, quote, officers do not immediately surround or block off the sideshow. participants, but rather a

says the number of sideshow participants and spectators threats to public safety safety concerns for the officers and resources available to address the sideshow. once this information is obtained, the incident commander will devise a plan to address the sideshow appropriately. oakland police say sideshow participants have also become more confrontational towards law enforcement with reports of gunfire and assault. reporting the newsroom. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> a man has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries this evening after being hit by a car in san jose. according to police, the man was walking in the area of south first street and hollywood avenue when he was hit. no word on the driver at this time. units are currently in the area investigating road closures are still in place. people are being advised to avoid the area. tonight we're learning the body recovered from a reservoir is that of a san francisco man? 24 year-old oscar rafael coyle. flores was. >> swimming at the woodward reservoir is stan sauce county on saturday. officials say he

appeared to grow tired and struggled to keep his head above the water surface and drowned. first responders found about 45 feet from the mountain view point shoreline. authorities are reminding everyone to be prepared for emergencies if you plan to be outside in the water, you're advised to use a life vest. >> passover celebrations are underway. the jewish holiday officially begins tonight. at sundown marks, the liberation of the israelites from slavery in egypt. now with the ongoing war between israel and hamas. the annual jewish festival of freedom has been marred by the backdrop of deaths, including 10's of thousands of palestinians here in the bay area. kron four's philippe djegal reports. the holiday is also leading to security concerns at synagogues. our celebrations for passover this nevertheless, rabbi mark blum says the jewish community is commanded by tradition to celebrate the 7 to 8 days of passover. adding that despite

upgrades during passover extra guards. we still have a guard only for services. neal, we now have a gard4n many other times as well. >> we have upgraded locks gates cameras and we anticipate doing much more as the money for the grant comes. and rabbi bloom says he keeps in regular touch with law enforcement and does not anticipate any violence. >> but says he will remain vigilant in oakland, philippe djegal all kron. 4 news. >> the supreme court hearing arguments today in a case that could have a major impact on how cities across the country, including right here in the bay area address homelessness. demonstrators gathered outside the court as the justices heard arguments over whether laws that ban homeless people from camping in public spaces can be enforced. this case specifically relates to a law in the city of grants. pass oregon. demonstrators say fining or jailing homeless people makes it harder for them to find housing inside the courtroom. justice elena

kagan suggested grants passes laws went too far. but chief justice john roberts asked if homelessness should be a constitutionally protected status. >> it seems like you're criminalizing the status. if someone is homeless for a week. finds available is that person homeless when he's in the shelter? >> this case comes after a lower court ruled in favor of the homeless population, calling it cruel and unusual punishment to fine and jail. someone who does not have anywhere else to go here in the bay area. the city of san francisco says it's been blocked from enforcing camping regulations because the city doesn't have enough shelter space for its full homeless population. a decision on the case is expected later on this year. >> you won't be able to pay to skip the tsa line at california. airports of a new bill passes in sacramento right now. clear customers can pay $189 a year to avoid the tsa's regular and precheck lines at many airports clear

users are escorted past people who don't pay for the service. the new bill would ban that practice enforce. clear, too, either get its own dedicated line or stop operating unions for tsa agents and flight attendants support the bill saying clear is an insecure pay to play system. but airlines say restrictions on clear would lose in business from the most frequent fires enforce the tsa to had staffing to deal with the additional line. all right. let's go outside. give you a live look of sfo. speaking of flying a little bumpy. >> coming in earlier today, there's a little bit of wind that there aren't. yeah, that onshore flow has returned. it's carrying with it that good ol fog start to roll back on shore right now around parts of the bay area. more that all the way in the coming days. that's a really cool you down. let's take outside for a little walk on the clouds out there right now. looking down from our mount tam cam. you see that cloud deck beginning to push inside the bay that is going to fill in overnight tonight and tomorrow morning. and so that will help to cool down the temperatures. but

what things have been looming like crazy, a little sunshine going. here we go. here's your allergy forecast. the pollen count running high for at least the next couple of days. looks like that. we begin to back off a little bit on thursday and friday. and in the first part of the weekend outside right now, we do have the clouds gather along the coastline. see coming up from the south there begin to fill in the long many of the beaches. it will fill in the bay overnight tonight and tomorrow morning. in fact, you see all the way down in southern california, a few thunderstorms popping up over the sierra nevada other than that kind of a quiet day across much of the state. head out the door this evening. you'll find that sea breeze out there as well. mostly sunny skies away from the immediate coastline. and then the fog. we'll begin to fill in as we head throughout the evening hours that fog pushing inside the bay start to bounce up against the oakland hills as we head in toward 8 o'clock tonight and cooling down the temperatures around the bay area. so high pressure looks like it's going to be getting out of town after bringing us some nice weather throughout the weekend. that ridge going to slide further to the east. and as it does that's going allow for more of the return of an onshore breeze and well,

police and waymo. it was the second time the waymo car was trashed in san francisco. back in february, a 14 year-old was charged for setting this waymo car on fire. police say a crowd sprayed graffiti on the vehicle broke a window through fireworks inside. when that's the results. there were no passengers inside and no one was hurt. >> cupertino residents will soon see some large cuts to city services. the city is working to balance its budget in the face of a multi million dollar deficit. the deficit comes from a loss and apple sales taxes after an audit last year. exact cuts to city services haven't been outlined. but city has said it's reducing public works contracts and not hiring for vacant positions. councilmember hung way has assured residents that they won't notice a significant effect on their quality of life. nurses at san francisco's kaiser permanente medical center joining a statewide strike today. they're protesting what they say is the unregulated use of artificial intelligence in

hospital practices. nurses say they want to highlight patients safety concerns amid the rush to use ai. >> the remains of a gray whale found offshore in alameda were moved across the san francisco bay today. the goal is to try and figure out how the animal died. it was an adult female gray whale, the 40 foot long carcass was first spotted on saturday evening biologist from the marine mammal center and the california academy of sciences will now perform a necropsy on the whale to try and figure out exactly what happened. >> we will open the whale up. we will look inside. it will look for signs of cause of death. and it's very sad, though. i want to know what happened. i'd like to know what happened to whale. >> it's not clear when this necropsy will be performed, but officials with the marine mammal center tell us this is not the same whale that was seen entangled 2 weeks ago. we had kept you up to press with that. they had found that well, yet this is not that one. but this is the first reported dead whale in the san

francisco bay this year. >> but with demand for oil is going up as a result of the war gaza, which means gas prices are only going to continue to rise for according to aaa, the average price of a gallon of regular gas in california has jumped almost. >> $5. and $0.44 a gallon. that's almost a $0.20 increase compared to just last week here in the bay area, the most expensive counties for a gallon of regular gas or napa and san francisco, you'll fill up for round $5.70 there in between 5.60, san mateo sonoma marin and alameda counties, solano and contra costa counties. just a couple cents less the cheapest gas right now can be found in santa clara county, $5 and $0.54. >> the organizers behind the annual dog surfing championship in pacifica are asking for help from the public. they say the costs are simply too high and they say they've gone up by 100% in the last couple of years. the event is free for the public

drizzle out there. so the temperatures, yeah, we'll cool down a bit coast side. 62 degrees today in san francisco. 69 still nice day in oakland. 83 in warm though in san jose. 83 in lemore 83 in concord and 78 degrees in santa rosa. but we're going to see more of those clouds overnight tonight and a deep enough marine layer likely to see a couple patches of drizzle at least out toward the beaches tomorrow, starting out with some morning cloud cover and then giving way to some clearing in that fog just kind of hanging out toward the coastline again. and that will keep those temperatures cool. so cooling trend the up kicking into full gear. i think tomorrow afternoon, these numbers, maybe 10, maybe 15 degrees cooler. what we had today, slight chance of some showers on the way a little bit later on in the week. speaking of cool, 55 degrees right now in half moon bay. 62 in san mateo looking to 72 degrees in dublin. 73 in pittsburgh. even 83 right now, as you make your way to britain. so really some nice numbers away from the coastline. this where we start to the breakdown in temperatures, you get those big cooling down numbers along the coastline. and of course, much warmer inland. but the

whole pattern beginning to shift gears here, high pressure that's been sitting over head, bringing us the fantastic weather that is getting out of town. and this is going a little bit unsettled as we've got least a slight chance of some showers as we head toward the latter part of the week. tomorrow, i'm going to see a deepening marine layer going to see a little more of that and wednesday to and then there's your chance of showers. doesn't look like a big rainmaker, but definitely cooler the chance of a couple raindrops coming our way tomorrow. those those temperatures coming down quite a bit to san francisco. grab a light jacket with you out toward the sun, said the number generally in the 50's there 60's toward the ballpark got 50's along the coastline and a half moon bay inside the bay of find some sunshine, some nice weather but will be breezy in spots, especially some of the gaps in the mountains. amber will get to see some gusty winds there. 68 degrees in mount view, the south bay 60's and some low 70's. also parts of the east bay going to see some nice numbers next few days. temperatures come down just a little bit. slight chance of showers as we get in toward friday. we're going to see moving on our way. and then it looks back to some dry weather this next weekend. okay. i'm not a rainout. it's not to be
