safety, progress and efficiency on the realm of aviation is not just any piece of legislation, it is a commitment to safeguarding lives, fostering innovation and bolstering economic growth. and it ensures the skies remain safe for all and it sets stringent standards for aircraft safety, air traffic control and airport operations and ensuring that, every flight is conducted the highest level of care and expertise.evel of care today i rise to especially acknowledge the hard work that our air traffic controllers do day in and day out to keep the skies clear and safe for all. back home in kansas, we have a traffic control center that is responsibleen for some 130,000 square miles of airspace. covering that much airspace is no a small feat and it takes a team of highly skilled and trained controllers to get the

job done. in fact what i found was perhaps the most constant bombardment and mentallyt, challenging task. more than anything i've seen an eight or 12 hours and an y,operating room and one day moe than a day in the emergency room, more than any other task i've seen the challenge and constant bombardment of different sequences to make sure and ensure every flight lands safely. there's no room for error or second chances and it amazes me how time after time and day after day these stalwarts to do their job with protection. in the years past, i've disappointed that despite things being allocated, this agency has continued to neglect hiring for air traffic controllers not only in kansas but across the nation.

based on my visit it's clear the air traffic controllers need relief and need to hire more people to prevent burnout for the sake of. preserving passenger safety. we have a golden opportunity to make sure things are right with this reauthorization. the package included provisions to higher at maximum levels for the life of the bill and adopt new staffing models to better project hiring needs in the future. it is a common sense simple fix including the bill in the reauthorization package. i applaud them for working around the clock to keep our deliveries on time and
